Woodpeckers are noisy!

I'm in Peterborough and I've got a Hairy Woodpecker nest about 15 m up in a Trembling Aspen. As is often the case with woodpecker nests, I located it thanks to the incessant begging calls of the young in the nest. For some reason woodpeckers seem to be the loudest/most constant in this regard and if you hear constant whining calls (kind of like non-stop Blue-gray Gnatcatchers) have a look around for a cavity...the adults should be making pretty constant trips to the nest with food too.
