Nesting dates

Nesting dates

The breeding dates charts are your "go to" for depicting the approximate breeding season for each species, but if you want to dig down further there's another excellent online resource out there that shows the dates which a species is nesting (eggs or young in the nest): the Nesting Calendar Query Tool.

It takes a bit to understand how to use the tool (be sure to read the "instructions" and "about" tab). But once you figure it out it is a really handy resource to look up dates when you can reasonably expect a given species to have eggs or young in a nest in any part of the province. The tool relies heavily on the Ontario Nest Records Scheme and Project Nestwatch data.
